How the Proposed Distribution Rates & Tariffs Could Impact Customers

How would this impact residential customers?

• The majority of residential customers, who make up approximately 70% of Enbridge Gas New Brunswick’s customer base, will be placed in the Small General Service rate class.
• The total cost of natural gas (including delivery charge, commodity charge and customer charge) for the average residential Small General Service customer, consuming 89 GJs/year, would be approximately $1,701 / year.
• For a typical residential customer, this could result in an increase of approximately $104 /year. However, customers converting from oil will see an annual savings of up to 38% (approximately $1,048 / year). Customers converting from electricity will continue to see an annual savings of up to 20% (approximately $425/ year).

How would this impact the industrial users?

• Consumption profiles for the 96 customers in the Contract General Service rate class vary significantly, however, on average customers will see a decrease of approximately $56,399 /year in their total cost of natural gas.
• Consumption profiles for the 10 customers in the Industrial Contract General Service rate class vary significantly, however, on average customers will see a decrease of approximately $237,911 in their total cost of natural gas.

How would this impact all the other commercial customers?

• Some small commercial customers will be placed in the Small General Service rate class.
  
  The total cost of natural gas (including delivery charge, commodity charge and demand charge) for a Small General Service customer, consuming 186 GJs per year, would be approximately $3,363 /year, resulting in a decrease of approximately $365 /year.
• For commercial customers placed in the other rate classes: 

1. The total cost of natural gas (including delivery charge, commodity charge and demand charge) for a Mid-General Service customer, consuming 570 GJs per year, would be approximately $ 9,966 /year, resulting in a decrease of approximately $ 1,575 /year.
   
   
2. The total cost of natural gas (including delivery charge, commodity charge and demand charge) for a Large General Service customer, consuming  2,328 GJs per year, would be approximately  $ 29,639 /year, resulting in a decrease of approximately $ 22,474 /year.
