Natural gas: the cleaner way to heat your home

As a naturally occurring energy source, natural gas is the cleanest burning fossil fuel and as such, natural gas creates less greenhouse gas emissions than heating oil or electricity generated from fossil fuels.

According to the Conservation Council of New Brunswick, “the quickest and least costly strategy to stop global warming is to reduce our consumption of energy through energy efficiency and conservation."

"In New Brunswick, the energy we use to heat and power our homes is the biggest source of greenhouse gases in the province.”

“I’m not a treehugger, but I am sympathetic to environmental concerns. And it’s not just an age thing, everyone should be concerned.”

Did you knowAccording to the Conservation Council of New Brunswick, three barrels of oil must be burned at a power plant to deliver the equivalent of one barrel of oil worth of electric heat to your home. Heating directly with oil or natural gas in a high efficiency furnace converts almost all of the fuel you burn into heat for your home.
