I have baseboard electric heat. Is there any way for me to save money with natural gas?
Yes, a central heating system is something to consider for your home. Not only will you get the benefits of natural gas heat, you could also be able to have central air conditioning, and add products to improve the indoor air quality of your home. There are also other ways that you can add comfort and savings to your home with natural gas. A fireplace or heating stove will give you instant heat and save you money by allowing you to turn off your electric heat in the main living area of your house. And a natural gas water heater will allow you to save more money and give you a faster hot water recovery time.

How often do the gas distribution rates change?
EGNBs distribution rates are regulated by the New Brunswick Energy and Utilities Board. Enbridge Gas New Brunswick must apply to the Board for approval before increasing its rates for any purpose (maximum once a year). Enbridge Gas New Brunswick can, however, lower its distribution rates at any time to maintain an acceptable level of savings over oil for its customers.

In New Brunswick, natural gas is measured and billed in Gigajoules (GJ), which is the metric version of the British Thermal Unit (BTU). How safe is natural gas?
Natural gas is one of the safest forms of energy available. It is approximately 40% lighter than air. Escaping natural gas dissipates into the atmosphere almost immediately. Still, to detect even the smallest leak, a chemical odorant (with a smell like rotten eggs) is added to help detect a leak should one occur. Our safety codes ensure that, before delivering gas to any building, we inspect the installation and ensure that it complies with all the necessary regulations. Natural Gas heats more than 5 million homes and businesses in Canada , including schools, hospitals, restaurants, churches and other public buildings.
Is the natural gas supply secure, and how long will it last?
Our supply of natural gas is secure. The supply for New Brunswickers is abundant. We are connected to a North American gas grid, so New Brunswickers can rest assured that we will not run out of natural gas for homes and businesses. Natural gas is a premium fuel source in large demand, and therefore exploration will continue in order to meet demand.

It is said that natural gas prices will continue to be high over the next year. Can I still expect savings?
Yes. Although natural gas prices are higher than in the past, it’s still a cost-effective energy source. In fact the cost of all energy sources are expected to continue to rise over the next year.
