The Natural Gas Distribution System

Natural gas is found under ground and requires a well to be drilled in order to tap into the natural gas reservoirs. Once a drill has hit an area that contains natural gas, it can be brought to the surface through pipes. From larger pipelines, the gas goes through smaller and smaller pipes to your neighborhood.

Enbridge Gas New Brunswick has over 781 km of pipeline servicing 10 communities in southern New Brunswick including, Dieppe, Dorchester, Fredericton, Moncton, Oromocto, Riverview, Sackville, Saint John, St. George and St. Stephen. New pipe is put down when there is sufficient demand in an area and where the economics ensure that the capital costs are covered over the long term.

Distribution Map

In homes and businesses, the natural gas must first pass through a meter, which measures the amount of fuel going into the building. A meter reader will read the meter monthly and you will receive a monthly bill from Enbridge Gas New Brunswick.

If you are interested in natural gas, you can determine if it is available in your area on our availability map. If it is not, contact us and we will monitor the interest in your area. If there is enough interest in a specific area, we will contact you to potentially move forward.
