What you need to do:
If it is time for your meter to be exchanged, you will receive a letter or email from Liberty stating that Liberty will be in your area conducting meter exchanges and to contact Liberty via phone (1-800-994-2762 and select option 4), email, or complete the online form below to schedule a date and time that is convenient for you.
If we do not hear from you, we will schedule your meter exchange within the next two (2) weeks, and if an adult is not available to provide access, the technician will exchange your meter and leave the new meter locked until access can be provided.
What should I expect when a Liberty technician visits my home?
- Meter exchanges typically take 90 minutes to complete.
- Liberty technicians will wear a visible identification card.
- There is no charge for the services
What can I do to prepare for my meter exchange?
To prepare for your meter exchange, please ensure:
- Clear access to the meter ensuring all sidewalks, stairs and entryways are clear of debris including snow.
- Clear access to your gas appliances and thermostat.
- That all pets are secured well away from the work area.
- An adult (over 18 years of age) is in attendance.
What if I miss an appointment or I’m away when the meter is replaced?
If you miss an appointment or are away when the meter is replaced, a call back card will be left with instructions to book an appointment to turn on the gas supply, complete an inspection and relight the natural gas equipment in your home.
What work will be completed during my meter exchange?
When the Liberty technician arrives, they will:
- Turn off the gas at the meter.
- Replace the meter with a new one.
- Restore gas to the meter.
- Inspect piping and the appliances.
- Relight all appliances.
